Sunbury can field a maximum of 4 teams on a Sunday.
Barring the Sunday 1st XI, Sunday cricket is a largely more relaxing affair, but we use it as a fantastic experience to field the promise of young talented colts alongside the more accomplished adult cricketers. It provides a wonderful opportunity for the youngsters to pick the brains of the more established players, while still competing against high standard opposition.
Here is a run down of the teams we field on a Sunday:
The Sunday 1st XI compete in the T20 National Competition, the Bertie Joel Cup (Conference Cup), and the National Knockout Competition. The past decade has been hugely successful for the Sunday squad, reaching the National Knockout Final in 2013, and winning the Conference Cup in both 2017 and 2018.
The Sunbury Chieftains (perhaps better known as a development side), compete in the Surrey Trust League. This league promotes fielding young talent alongside experienced 1st and 2nd XI members, as no more than three players can be aged over 21. Sunbury have again been extremely successful in this format, finishing runners up and winning the Wasim Raja Trophy over the past 3 years.
The Sunbury Heat are a new outfit for 2020.
The Club XI are a friendly side on Sundays, with many matches over the course of the season to give our members the highest opportunity of representing the club.
